How we calculate estimates
Our estimates are based on 2025 Dubai market rates for professional moving services. We factor in property size, distance, access complexity, and optional services. For moves involving building permits (Emaar, Nakheel, DMCC), additional fees may apply—typically AED 100-300.

What Affects Your Moving Cost
Understanding these factors helps you budget accurately and compare quotes effectively
Property Size
Studios and 1BR apartments are faster to move than 4BR villas. More rooms = more items, movers, and hours.
Move Distance
Within-Dubai moves cost less than inter-emirate relocations. Dubai to Abu Dhabi adds 30-40% to base price.
Floor Level & Access
Elevator access is standard. Stairs, narrow corridors, or long carry distances from parking add AED 150-500.
Service Elevator Booking
Many high-rises allow only 4-6 hour elevator slots. Tight timing may require additional crew or return visits.
Packing Services
Self-packing is cheapest. Partial packing (fragile items) adds AED 300-800. Full packing adds AED 500-2,500+.
Specialty Items
Pianos, artwork, antiques, safes, and gym equipment require special handling and add AED 200-1,500 each.
Building Permits
Emaar, Nakheel, and DMCC buildings require move permits (AED 100-300) plus refundable deposits (AED 1,000-5,000).
Move Date & Timing
Weekends and month-end dates cost 10-20% more. Peak season (June-August, December) has higher demand.
Dismantling & Assembly
Complex furniture (wardrobes, beds, desks) may need dismantling. Built-in units cost more than flat-pack.
Insurance Coverage
Basic coverage is included. Full replacement value insurance adds 1-3% of declared goods value.

Common questions about moving costs and getting accurate quotes
This calculator provides a realistic range based on 2025 Dubai market rates. Actual costs depend on exact inventory volume, building access rules, floor levels, and move-day conditions. For an accurate quote, we recommend a free on-site survey or detailed inventory call.
Standard quotes include: professional movers, moving truck, basic packing materials (blankets, stretch wrap), furniture protection, loading/unloading, and transport. Packing services, dismantling, storage, and building permits are usually add-ons priced separately.
If your building has a service elevator, high-rise moves cost the same as ground-floor moves. Costs increase when: there's no elevator (stair carry charges apply), elevator slots are very limited, or long carry distances exist between parking and your unit.
Yes. Walking up 1-3 floors typically adds AED 100-200 per floor. For 4+ floors without elevator, expect AED 300-500+ additional. This covers the extra time and physical effort required. Always confirm stair charges before booking.
Quote variations come from: different crew sizes and experience levels, vehicle quality, insurance coverage, inclusion/exclusion of materials, and whether permits are handled. Suspiciously low quotes often mean hidden fees or corner-cutting. Compare what's included, not just the total.
Move mid-month (not month-end) and on weekdays. Book 2-3 weeks ahead. Declutter before moving—fewer items = lower cost. Pack yourself if you have time. Choose morning slots for better traffic. Get multiple quotes and negotiate.
Ask specifically about: parking fees (if building charges), long carry charges, waiting time fees, stair charges, dismantling/assembly costs, packing material costs, and building permit fees. Reputable movers will disclose everything upfront.
Tipping isn't mandatory but is appreciated for good service. AED 50-100 per mover is common for standard moves. For complex villa moves or exceptional service, AED 100-200 per mover shows appreciation. You can also offer water and snacks during the move.
